Due to the absence of a local press, Pakistan’s initial stamps were printed by Thomas De La Rue in London. In 1949, the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation (PSPC) was established in Malir Halt, Karachi, and its first full set of stamps, the 1954 Seventh Anniversary issue, was printed there. From then until mid-2003, PSPC was the primary printer of Pakistan’s stamps. In 2003, the printing shifted to the Pakistan Post Office Foundation Press (Security Division) in Karachi, starting with the Year of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah issue. However, this arrangement was short-lived, and in 2006, printing responsibilities reverted to PSPC. Other foreign printers of Pakistani stamps have included Cartor (Paris, France), Courvoisier (Switzerland), Harrisons (London), and Secura (Singapore).
