10th Indian Antarctica Scientific Expedition
The 10th Indian Scientific Expedition consisting of 100 members led by Dr. A.K. Hanjura, a Physicist from National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi had sailed for Antarctica from Goa on 27.11.1990. The team has returned back on 25.03.1991 leaving behind a team of 25 members head by Dr. A.K. Hanjura to man the Indian Scientific Station MAITRI for the coming winter season. The 22-member team which was left behind by the previous expedition team has also come back.
During this expedition, the philatelic mails were carried to the Indian Antarctica Station and cancelled at the Maitri Post Office.
