11th Indian Antarctica Scientific Expedition
The Eleventh Indian Scientific Expedition consisting of 98 members led by Dr S.Mukherji, a Geologist from Geological Survey of India had sailed for Antarctica from Goa on 27.11.1991. The team reached Antarctica on 23.12.1991. After successful completion of all the objectives and leaving behind the 9th winter team of 26 members led by Dr S. Mukherji, to man the Indian Scientific station MAITRI for the coming winter season, the expedition team left Antarctica on 25.2.1992 and reached Goa on 24 .3.1992. The 25 member team which left behind by the previous expedition team has also come back.
During this expedition they have carried the Philatelic Mail received from all over the world to the Indian Antarctic Station and were cancelled at the MAITRI POST OFFICE.
