13th Indian Antarctica Scientific Expedition
The Thirteenth Indian Scientific Expedition consisting of 58 members led by Shri G. Sudhakar Rao, Metrologist from Indian Metrological Department, New Delhi, has sailed for Antarctica from Goa on 08.12.1993. The team reached Antarctica on 31.12.1993. After successful completion of all the objectives and leaving behind the 11th winter team of 25 members led by Shri G. Sudhakar Rao to man the Indian Scientific Station MAITRI for the coming winter season, the expedition team left Antarctica on 12.03.1994. The 25-member team which was left behind by the previous expedition team has also come back.
During this expedition the philatelic mails were carried which was received from all over the world to the Indian Antarctic Station and cancelled at the MAITRI POST OFFICE.
