15th Indian Antarctica Scientific Expedition
The Fifteenth Indian Scientific Expedition team consisting of 49 members led by Shri Arun Chaturvedi, a Geologist from Geological Survey of India, Faridabad had sailed for Antarctica from Goa on 7th December 1995 on board the chartered vessel MV BRINKNES and landed in Antarctica on 31st December 1995. The team has completed all the tasks assigned to them and a team of 26 persons under the leadership of Shri Arun Chaturvedi has left behind in Antarctica to man the Indian Scientific Station ‘MAITRI‘. The team returned from Antarctica on 27.02.1996 and reached Goa on 20.03.1996. Along with the team, the 12th winter team, led by Dr. S.D. Sharma, which had been left behind at the Antarctica by the 14th Indian Antarctica Expedition also came back.
