The 2 Anna ticket, with a diameter of 26.4 millimeters and weighing 8.95 grams, displayed ‘Patna Post Two Anna’ on the obverse and ‘Azimabad Dak Do Ani’ in Persian on the reverse. Additionally referred to as ‘Azimabad Ekanni’ and ‘Azimabad Duanni’, these tickets played a pivotal role in shaping postal history.
The release of the Copper Ticket on 31st March 1774, marked the formalization of a regular postal system, accompanied by the appointment of a Post Master General and the introduction of pre-payment of postage. Postage was levied at 2 Annas for every 160 kilometers (100 miles).
