12th World Hindi Conference, FIJI

World Hindi Conference (WHC) is the largest and most prestigious event focused on the Hindi language that brings together leading scholars, academics, writers, students, publishers and linguists from across the world. The concept of the World Hindi Conference was envisaged by Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Vardha (Maharashtra, India) and the first World Hindi Conference was organized from 10 to 12 January 1975 at Nagpur (Maharashtra, India). So far, eleven World Hindi Conferences have been organized in different parts of the world.

During the 11th World Hindi Conference held in Mauritius in 2018. A recommendation was made to organize the next edition in Fiji, a major Diaspora country where Hindi is one of the three official languages. Hence, the 12th World Hindi Conference is being organized in Fiji from 15 to 17 February 2023. The venue of the conference is Denarau Island Convention Centre (DICC), Nadi, Fiji. The main theme of the Conference is “Hindi: From Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence”.

Around 1000 participants including High- level dignitaries, Government officials, Hindi scholars, academicians, writers, poets, critics, publishers and other Hindi lovers from all over the world, are expected to join the 12th World Hindi Conference. Several exhibitions related to the various aspects of the Hindi language are being organized. A variety of cultural programmes blending the colours and flavours of India and Fiji are also being organized during the Conference. To mark the historic occasion and to help further promote the Hindi language, the Government of India would also be gifting Hindi Language Laboratory to the people of Fiji.

The Logo of the 12^th WHC represents a fine combination of elements of both host countries – India and Fiji. The lotus being the national flower of India and a symbol of purity as per ancient Indian culture is at the centre of the Logo. Blue waves and coconut trees in the Logo represent the beautiful islands of Fiji, The Logo also contains colours of the flags of India and Fiji.
