Operation Vijay, conducted in 1971 against infiltrating Pakistani troops along the western border, marked the culmination of a significant chapter. This war not only halted the genocide in East Pakistan but also led to the birth of a new nation – Bangladesh.
On December 3, 1971, the conflict escalated with a sudden pre-emptive air strike by the Pakistani Air Force on eleven airfields in northwest India, officially declaring war. In response, the Indian Air Force retaliated swiftly, initiating a massive blitzkrieg attack. For thirteen intense days, Indian forces executed a remarkable air, sea, and land assault, resulting in substantial losses for the Pakistani forces.
